Oil company executives have indicated they are reluctant to invest in the oil fields of Venezuela at this time. This became apparent at a White House meeting of oil executives on Friday when one of them said investing in Venezuela oil fields was “uninvestible” currently.

Darren Woods of Exxon Mobil,  pointed to the  instability in the country as the basis for his opinion.   Who is running the country; is it Trump as he claims or is it the remaining members of the  Maduro regime?

Mr. Woods, according to a front page article in “The New York Times,” on Saturday, January 10, quoted him saying: “We’ve had our assets seized there twice and so yu can imagine to re-enter a third time would require some pretty significant changes.”

Meanwhile, on Thursday of last week, Senators voted, 52 – 47, to debate a war powers resolution this week.  If successful it would force Imperial Trump to get Congressional approval for further military action in Venezeula. To the shock of many, Senator Susan Collins, 73,  (R-ME) was one of five who broke ranks and voted along with Democrats on this resolution. Imperial Trump was swift in his vilification of Senator Collins:  “Susan Collins……………… should never be elected to office again,” Trump wrote on his social media platform.  The Senator said that the situation had changed since his capture of President Maduro of Venezuela.

In a previous vote, Senator Collins, 73, voted down a similar resolution before Trump took “unilateral, unconstitutional actions” in Venezuela according to Governor Mills, 78.

Perhaps the change the Senator referred to previously was a press release issued on Wednesday, January 7 in which Governor Janet T. Mills, 78, and a Democratic candidate for the US Senate seat now occupied by Collins, slammed her for her oil stock holdings.  It says:  “Susan Collins and her spouse hold up to $115,000 combined in oil companies ConocoPhilips and Philips 66 stock, according to her most recent financial disclosure.  The Trump administration invited ConcoPhillips to return to Venezuela once Maduro was overthrown.  Phillips 66 is one of the ‘most immediate beneficiaries’ of a US-aligned Venzuela.  Shares of both ConocoPhilips and PHillips 66 jumped at the prospect of a US takeover of Venezuela.”

Meanwhile Graham Platner, 41, another candidate for the incumbent Collins’ seat this year, is on a junket somewhere overseas that his staff has not confirmed in response to several inquiries from this blogger.
