Trump Stumbles as he Climbs the Steps to Air Force 1 Recently – Perhaps Symbolic of His Stumbling and low Approval Ratings in his Presidency so Far.

President Trump, who never served in the US military because of bone spurs, spent over an hour preaching at  military brass on his political agenda that he expects them to adopt yesterday morning – or resign.  The shocking performance by Trump came  at Quantico, Virginia, site of a Marine base and was broadcast live on cable news starting at 9:30 am.

Trump’s self-congraulatory, incoherent campaign style and lies were reminiscent  of the late Fidel Castro, long-time leader of Cuba,  who was known for similar unhinged rhetoric during his Reign of Destruction over a once beautiful tourist destination off the Florida coast.

Trump’s campaign before the apolitical military leaders was far reaching – from how he walks down stairs carefully so he won’t fall like President Biden did and unlike President Obama who had and has a spring to his step.  Because if he isn’t careful in how he walks, there could be a bad outcome for him he said.

On the other dramatic cliff, Trump advocated that  US cities could be training grounds for the US military. “We should use some of these dangerous cities as training grounds for our military,” he preached to the hundreds of generals and admirals whose attendance was required – assembled before him.  Trump told the assembled mililtary brass that the US is under invasion from within our country.

Perhaps his crude efforts to eliminate “wokeness” were what pissed off former Secretary of Defense William Cohen the most.  But following Trump’s cable news show time, Willilam S. Cohen, a Republican and former Secretary of Defense in the Clinton administration asked:  Was it wokeness that brought us  Colin Powell?  The Black Colin Powell served as chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff from 1989 – 1993.  He was born in Harlem and his parents immigrated from Jamaica.  He flirted briefly with the idea of running for President of the US, but declined allegedly due to his wife who did not want him to do that.

Secretary of Defense Bill Cohen, 85,  is a Republican from Bangor from where he graduated  high school.  He attended Bowdoin College and law school in Boston.  Secretary Cohen divorced his first wife Diana Dunn, a Portland resident, and shortly thereafter married Janet Langhart, a Black women.  Ms. Langhart enjoys her own successful career in communictions and as an author.  They live in the DC area.
