Trump Insults Supreme Court (Also) Over Tariff Repudiation; Pingree Counters

Dictator Trump Stumbles as he Climbs the Steps to Air Force 1 Last Year – Perhaps Symbolic of His Presidency so Far.

In a lunchtime childish Sulk today, an Unhappy Trump said that although the Supreme Court announced this morning that it had struck-down his unpopular tariffs in a 6 – 3 decision, it was the wrong decision.  The SC majority wrote that the Constitution clearly reserves the right to impose taxes by Congress.  Although the Dictator denies tariffs are taxes on Americans, most disagree with that.   “The Framers did not vest any part of the taxing power in the Executive Branch,” Chief Justice John Robers wrote in the majority opinion.

The Unhappy Dictator said however that there are “other ways to charge countries” who have been ripping off the US for many years.  That roadmap came from Justice Kavanaugh one of the minority members who wrote:  “The tariffs at issue here may or may not be wise policy.  But as a matter of text, history and precedent, they are clearly lawful.”  OH?  Don’t forget that Senator Susan Collins (R) supported his nomination to the Supreme Court.

The Unhappy Dictator said that “people who court ruled on are sleeze bags” and that he was ashamed of the other members of the Supreme Court who ruled against him.  The Court’s decision was just plain wrong.  He said that he had done what many people said he could not do.  “I can do anything I want,” said this  demagogue repeatedly during the almost 45 minute Sulk.  He can destroy countries if he wants.  Trump also said he is ashamed of members of the Court for not doing the right thing.  The Court’s decision was “disgraceful.” Trump said SC members who voted against his tariffs are “fools and lap dogs.”

In a statement released from Congresswoman Chellie Pingree (D-ME) following his noontime Sulk, she said in part:

“I’m relieved that the Supreme Court has finally acknowledged Trump’s chaotic tariff policy as a ler case of executie overreach.  This is a win for businesses and industries that hae struggled to navigage the uncertainty surrounding trade policy that was based on nothing mor than the President’s egotistical impulse to impose tariffs on an immediate, boundless basis under the guise of an emergeny measure.  But whle this ruling may provide momentary relief, we must acknowledge that Trump is insistent on reinstating these tariffs through other methods and means.

Trump’s tariffs have done incredible damage to our ecoomy, to our relationships with key allies, and to the pocketbooks of millions of Americans.  Maine’s core industries have suffered greatly:  falling lobster exports, famiy dairy farms being pushed to the brink, our lumber and paper companies hit by retaliatory tariffs and rising input costs — the list goes on.  Meanwhile, the increased prices caused by Trump’s reckless tariffs are taking a serious toll on Maine households, at  time when many are already strugglig with rising inflation skyrocketing health care costs and an economy thats been increasingly rigged to benefit billionaires and big corporations………………”

At his noontime Sulk, the Unhappy Dictator said he “doesn’t talk to CNN because it’s fake news.”  Some companies are looking at how to get refunds for the expenses they incurred from the tariffs.

Later in the day, “The Wall Street Journal” said that Trump should apologize to the two Supreme Court Justices that he specifically insulted.
