Today, fifth-generation logger, former Maine Senate President, and Democraticnominee for US Senate Troy Jackson earned the endorsement of the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA. The endorsement comes as Troy campaigns for Senate with a strong focus on his honest roots as a union member and working-class Mainer who got his political start organizing for loggers in The County.
“It’s an incredible honor to have earned the endorsement from my union brothers and sisters at the AFA-CWA, representing over 50,000 flight attendants across the nation,” said Jackson. “In Trump’s broken economy, working people are putting in more hours for less pay while people like Susan Collins benefit from stock trading. I got into politics organizing loggers because the people doing the work deserved a fair shake, and that’s what I’ve fought for ever since. In the Senate, I’ll stand with working people fighting for better wages, safer workplaces, the right to organize and a government that works for them instead of the wealthy and well-connected. It’s time we brought some working-class power to Washington.”
“The Association of Flight Attendants is proud to stand with Troy Jackson. We need working class voices in the US Senate yesterday,” said AFA-CWA President Sara Nelson. “As a longtime union member and labor organizer, Troy has never forgotten where he came from – and that’s why we can’t wait to work with him in Washington to codify healthcare as a human right, make sure workers share in the prosperity of innovation and set an agenda for the working class. Jackson is a champion for working people across Maine and across the country. He stands with us. And we stand with him.”
This endorsement is the latest addition in a growing list of over twenty unions backing Troy’s campaign for Senate, highlighting his broad, grassroots support across the state. Troy has the support and the polling to carry his working-class platform across the finish line, and he’s fired up to keep the momentum going.
