Michael Steele, an anchor on MSNOW early this evening told Troy Jackson, Maine’s Democratic candidate for the US Senate, that he hoped Troy is getting lots of rest now. That’s because he will need it with the upcoming race against Susan Collins, Steele joked. You have an opportunity to shake up the apple cart in Maine, Steele added.
Troy Jackson respnded that he is “used to hardwork. It’s in my DNA. I’ve never seen this type of energy from people in Maine. People are loosing their healthcare and another birthing hospital just closed today while Susan Collins gives Trump whatever he wants.”
When Mr. Jackson was asked what he would like to say to President Trump, he said: “I don’t know what I would say to Donald Trump. I probably can’t say it here on tv, ” he joked. Mr. Jackson repeated that he has never seen such energy: “The energy here in Maine is something I’ve never seen before. People aren’t stupid. They want a government that works for the people. Private equities are buying up rental units and raising rents. Child care costs are escalating. There is no end to the issues here for Mainers.”
As to MAGA member Collins statement that she will not support the nomination of Acting AG Todd Blanch to be the AG, Mr Jackson said that Collins is trying to show “she does stand up to Trump.” There is a lot she could have done already to stand up to Trump, he said. “She could have stopped ICE’s activity in Maine,” recalling the recent tragic murder of Johan Sebastian Duran Guerero in Biddeford. “People in Maine aren’t stupid. Everyone knows we are getting left behind.”
A recent Emerson College Poll showed that Mr. Jackson is leading MAGA member Susan Collns by 49% to 46%. That poll was taken on July 31, 2026.

Why is she so afraid to boast about her newly revised voting record at town halls in the Portland area.
