At 10:15 pm., on Sunday, April 9, 2023, Portland Police made a traffic stop at 2 Park Avenue resulting in two arrests, a summons and a large drug seizure.
MATTHEW CAREY, of Portland, was charged with two counts of agggravated trafficking scheduled drugs, two counts of unlawful trafficking of scheduled drugs and violating conditions of release. He was taken to the Cumberland County Jail.
STEVEN HANSON, also of Portland, was taken to Cumberland County Jail on a US Marshals warrant for weapons charges. He was also charged with unlawful possession of methamphetamines.
MONICA SPRINKLE, of Windham, was charged with unlawfujl possession of scheduled drigs and violating conditions of release.
In total, officers seized 137 grams of fentanyl. To put this in perspective, fentanyl is considered lethal to many at two milligrams, making this amount large enough to kill the entire population of Portland. Also taken were 228 grams of methamphetamines, 53 grams of cocaine base (crack), 25 grams of cocaine HCL, 73 Xanax pills and $2,606.00 in cash.
