Traffic Advisory on Washington Avenue and Cumberland Avenue on East End of Portland

Due to ongoing area construction, there will be traffic impacts on Washington Avenye (Congress to Oxford) and Cumberland Avenue (Franklin to Washington).

FRIDAY August 25 and MONDAY, August 28:  Washington Avenue (Congress to Oxford)  Washington Avenue will be reduced to one-way,  alternating lanes of traffic from Oxford Street to Congress Street.  Due to paving, on-street parking will not be allowed on either side between 6:00 am – and 5:00 pm.  Please expect delays and seek alternate routes.

On-street parking will be allowed on Saturday and Sunday on both Washington Avenue and Cumberland Avenue.

Motorists are advised to use Fox Street, Franklin Street and Congress Street to navigate around there and the area.  Sidewalks and local businesses will remain open.  As soon as paving and painting activities are finished, the roads will be reopened.

WEDNESDAY, 8/30 and THURSDAY, 8/31. Cumberland Avenues (Franklin to Washington). Long-linge striping will take place 8/30 from 5:00 am to 10:00 am. During this time the road will be closed to vehicular traffic  Striping will continue on road throughout 8/30 – 8.31. The road will be opened to activities but there will still be NO parking and two-way alternating traffic.  Please expect delays.

“The intersections at Cumberland/Washington & Congress/Washington have the signals removed as the consruction project that is taking place has to run new lines/poles, etc.  Durig construction and until the new poles, electric lines and signal equipment is installed the intersections are a 4 way stop.  It is temporary,” according to an email from Jessica Grondin, City spokeswoman.
