The story du jour as printed by the “Portland Press Herald” is that MAGA Member Susan Collins is critical of the Trump administration’s plan to buy “shock gloves for ICE agents.” That’s a bump-up from “concerned,” her usual position. This lead, front page story today by veteran reporter Randy Billings is one more effort by the chameleon’s mouthpiece to dig Collins out of the deep ditch she has dug for herself as a Trump Enabler.
The news that ICE plans to buy shock gloves for detention purposes has reviled people who heard the news over the last several days. Even the Chameleon herself found the plan so untenable that she spoke out.
But Chameleon Collins, 73, shouldn’t be surprised at this latest bit of inhumaness from her mentor’s administration. It is well known that she voted in support of Trump’s
“BIg Beautiful Bill” that permitted funding for all manner of illegal and cruel policies to be implemented by ICE. She supported the BIG Bill – she’s part owner of it. Regardless of how she tries to wiggle out of it now. Too little too late.
One recent poll showed that Collins votes too often in support of the Trump agenda for most Maine voters too stomach in the upcoming mid-term election in November. This same FOX poll shows a clear and present preference for Democratic US Senate candidate Troy Jackson. Jackson, 58, is a fifth generation logger whose parents were a fourth generation logger and a public school teacher. He served in the Maine State Legislature and as the Maine Senate President. His record is commendable while that of MAGA Member Collins is disgraceful because it is so self-serving. To quote a Jackson tv ad, Collins has served Trump, billionaires and herself.
One possible reason the Chameleon has not hosted a town hall meetig in Maine since the Clinton administrtion, is that she prefers to barricade herself from public scrutiny in the protective pages of the “Republican Press Herald.” No one there will ask her an embarrassing question or a follow-up question that has no creditable answer. That tidbit from a Collins DC staff member, Aidan, who told this blogger last March 15th that Collins does not need to host town halls because she has access to the local newspaper.
Mr. Jackson is on the record as saying that ICE should be abolished. Onward and upward!
