These Signs Referred to the Iconic One Liner of Governor Janet T. Mills (D) with Convicted Felon Trump at the White House Earlier This Year.

Impeach Trump was a Common Theme  of Protestors at the Monument Square Handsoff1 Protest Today.

The Overturning of Roe v. Wade by the Supreme Court Was on the Minds of Some Proestors Today.

This Sign is a Reference to the Deeply Offensive Remark by Elon Musk that the Social Security is a Ponzi Scheme.

Many thousands packed Monument Square and downtown Portland today as peaceful protestors gave voice to their  outrage at the Convicted Felon Trump and Billionaire Elon Musk’s  illegal and unconstitutional dismantling of our democracy – by agency, by deportation, by tariff –  ostensibly to pay for tax cuts to the wealthiest people and corporations in this nation.

Just how many showed up at the Protest in Monument Square was a subject of much speculation. Estimates ranged from  3,000  to 10,000 people.  A Portland Police Officer on duty offered no estimate of the crowd size.  The latter estimate was closer to being accurate.

Because of the size and density of the crowd at Monument Square, this blogger was unable to get close enough to hear the speakers.  Bu the very original home-made signs spoke volumes about the outrage Mainers are feeling toward the “Let Them Eat Cake” Tump/Musk team. Normally, at rallies mass produced signs are distributed by the hosting group.  Not today.  The plethora of original signs gave voice to the diverse  outrage that Mainers feel toward CF and the DOGE guy.

The diverse crowd included members of the younger generation with many seniors intertwined in the crowd.  To this biased observator, there was a preponderance of protestors bearing signs protective of their social security benefits.

Notably missing from this Protest were any supporters of CF and DOGE. Often a group of opposers stand in front of the Public Library across the street  trying to disrupt  the proceedings in front of them.  Where were they today?
