Today, new reporting in “The Maine Monitor” revealed that billionaires have given over $9.8 million to reelect their favorite RUBBER STAMP, Senator Susan Collins.  Meanwhile, grassroots donors chipping in $200. or less have given Graham Platner $9.6 million according to a press release received this evening from the Platner campaign.

Billionairess don’t write checks for nothing and it’s yet another example of Susan Collins using the office to sell out Mainers – and why Graham Platner continues to build a campaign that can’t be bought.

“The Maine Monitor” report reveals:  At least 70 billionaires – 97 counting their spouses – have donated to the network of committees relecting Collins since January 2025, pouring in $9.8 million; THOSE donors are worth a combined $888 billion — nearly nine times the entire economic output of the state of Maine last year; JUST 3% of the money Collins’ groups raised came from small donors giving $200 or less.

The single largest check backing Collins:  $2.5 million from hedge fund billionaire KEN GRIFFIN.  Also Blackstone’s Stephen Schwarzman, “the king of private equity” gave $2 million to the PIne Tree Super PAC — notably the day after Collins voted for the “One Big Beautiful Bill,” which helped private equity.

FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER, COLLINS HAS LINKED HER OWN CAMPAIGN DIRECTLY TO A SUPER PAC – PINE TREE RESULTS — that has already booked $24 million in attack ads against Platner.  As “The Maine Monitor” reported, both the Collins campaign and Pine Tree Results PAC have joint fundraising agreements with the Collins Victory Committee, which has transferred money to both organizations.

“While Susan Collins’ campaign is backed by billionaire donors, our campaign is built on a movement funded by the people, with an average of $26,” said Ben Chin, Graham Platner’s Campaign Manager.  “The establishment can bring it on — they cannot defeat the will of working Mainers, 15,000+ volunteers and a campaign powered by small dollar donors from nearly every zip code in Maine.”

“In case you are not aware of it, Pine Tree Results, is the Collins’ super pac paying for those ugly ads on television,” says this blogger.  “Keep those nasty attack ads in DC where they flourish.  They aren’t welcome here in Maine.”
