On Monday, July 13, 2026, shortly before 11:00 pm., the Yarmouth Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at a six-unit apartment building at 18 Bridge Street in Yarmouth.
Upon arrival, firefighters quickly discovered smoke coming from the building’s soffits. Further investigation revealed a fire burning in the attic space above the second-floor apartments. Fire crews worked throughout the night to bring the fire under control and extinuish the blaze. During the morning daylight hours of Tuesday, July 14, 2026, a team of fire investigators from the State Fire Marshal’s Office responded to the scene at the request of the Yarmouth Fire Department to assist with the fire investigation. The building is considered a total loss and all tenants have been displaced. Investigators determined that the fire originated in the attic, space and ruled it accidental.
No one was injured from the fire. The press release does not say how many tenants were displaced by the fire.
