Street Closures July 13 – 15 in Portland for NGA Summer Meeting

Due to a special event in Portland, there will be multiple, temporary street closures starting tomorrow – Wednesday, through Friday, July 13, 15, 2022 stated the city’s press release.

Although the city’s press release received late today doesn’t state what the special event is, this blogger believes that it is the National Governors’ Association Summer Meeting that is convening in Portland tomorrow through Friday, July 15.  It’s a “special event” with  little fanfare for security reasons.

WEDNESDAY, July 13 – Commercial Street between Pearl Street and Fanklin Street will be closed to vehicles from approximately 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm; Fore, Hancock, India Thames and Fore Freedom Way will be closed to vehicles from 4:00 pm to 11:00 pm;

THURSDAY, July 14 – FRIDAY, July 15th.Spring Street will be closed to through traffic from approximately 5:00 am Thursday to 3:00 pm on Friday, July 15th.  Oak Street between Free Street and Spring Street will be closed during the same time frame, and

The Spring Street parking garage will be accessible from the Center Street side at Holiday Inn by the Bay emplyees and guests will be allowed access.

According to an employee of The Westin, some of the governors and their staffs will be staying there during the NGA Summer Meeting. Security personnel have been inspecting three hotels in Portland according to their employees who spoke to this blogger.  They include The Westin, the Holidlay Inn by the Bay, and the Press Hotel.

It is anticipated that two southern Governors are not attending the NGA meeting this week:  They are Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and Texas Governor Greg Abbott.
