Portland Police Assisted Maine State Police in a Traffic Stop This Afternoon.

Aaron Royal, currently homeless and originally from South Caroline, has been summoned to court for the January 13 assault on a woman that was attacked as she was walking through the Old Port.

The motive for the assault is still under investigation.  Royal was issued a summons to appear in court for an Assault A Class D crime.

Meanwhile, Portland Police assisted the Maine State Police in a “traffic stop” on Washington Avenue across from the Gear Hub near East Cove Street this afternoon.  About five police cars were involved in the stop.
