Susan Collins, who has a history of confirming anti-abortion judges, voted to confirm all three judges who just tried to take away abortion access in Maine and across the country according to a press release received this afternoon from Planned Parenthood.
Last week, Collins’ confirmed judges ruled to restrict access to medication abortion nationwide, making it harder for everyone, everywhere to access abortion care. Their ruling, which is currently paused until May 11 by the US Supreme Court, would have devastating impacts for patients in Maine and across the country.
Collins, knows that our rights and abortion access are a stake when she votes to confirm judicial nominees, but she continues to vote for activist judges who are hellbent on eliminating abortion nationwide. This year alone, Collins has voted to confirm multiple anti-abortion judges, including Joshua Dunlap, even though more than 20 Maine organizations warned her of the consequences. We can never forget this is the same senator who voted to confirm Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, who in turn voted to overturn Roe v. Wade, strippping Americans of our constitutional right to abortion.
