Just before 4:00 pm today, a small Cessna airplane crashed at the Portland Jetport on runway18 shortly after takeoff.  There were two passengers on board. The Portland Fire Department responded and put out the fire and immediately began assisting the passengers with medical treatment. The two have been hospitalized with non-life threatenening injuries.

Five inbound flights were directed to other airports.  They are:

Southwest Flight 3102 to Manchester, United Flight 2465 to Boston,United Flight 785 to Boston, Frontier Flight 1658 to Providence,and American Flight 4503 to Boston.

The primary runway has reopened and Jetport commercial operations resumed at 4:45 pm  The flights mentioned above are now expected to return to Portland.
