U.S. Senator Angus S. King, Jr. (I-Maine), a member of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, released the following statement today after Dzhokhar A. Tsarnaev was taken into custody by authorities late last night:

“I join not only with the people of Boston, but with all Americans, in commending local law enforcement and federal officials for their tireless work in apprehending Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, the primary suspect in Monday’s terrorist attack on Boston.  The unwavering viglience, determination and courage shown by these remarkable men and women is deserving of our endless gratitude, which they will surely always have

As we continue to heal as a nation, we take solace in knowing that over the course of the past week we have stood united as Americans, demonstrating once again that even in the face of such heartbreak and tragedy, the resilency and strength of the American people will always prevail.”
