Today, Climate Power Executive Director Lori Lodes issued the following statement in response to Senate Republilcans ramming through the Republican Rate Hike and biggest job-killing bill in history:

“Senate Republicans just voted to jack up energy bills, kill clean energy jobs and hand our energy future to China  ——-  all to fund more tax breaks for billionaires. They will be held accountable for every factory that closes, every job lost and every family hit with higher bills.

At a time when energy demand is surging and families are already struggling to make ends meet, this bill would raise costs, make the grid less reliable, and make the US more dependent on foreign oil.  It threatens our power supply just as extreme weather and record demand are putting historic strain on the grid forcing burnouts and blackouts across the country.

At the same time that the GOP-controlled Senate is ramming through a Republican Rate HIke, they’re pulling the plug on the fastest-growing job sector in America.  This will be the bigest job-killing bill in history, and its impact will be felt in every state across the country.

Republicans promised Americans energy domnance, but they’re delivering rate hikes and power outages.  They may call it beautiful — but to millions of Americans, it’s betrayal.”
