Demolition of the former B&M Baked Bean property, now the Roux Campus, starts this month. The actual demolition is set to commence around Monday, October 5th. The first step is site preparation which means that equipment will be brought to the site and set up on the property. On June 5th, demolition will start on Cluster 1, beginning with the large warehouse on the north side of the site. Approximately 5 trucks per day will haul sorted construction debris
Folloiwng that excavators will start work on Cluster 2, with approximately 10 trucks a day in service throughout the remainder of demolition. Demolition will be an on-going process with no clear end date mentioned.
Then on Thursday, June 29, a Neihborhoold Forum, to report on progress and anticipated schedule for completion will be held both in person and on-line from 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm at the Washington Gardens Commjnty Center, 66 Pembroke Street. The Forum will focus on demolition activities that begin June 5th. Topics will include site work, plans to monitor, reporting requirements, transportation and disposal and the overall schedule.
Representatives of the construction manager, Consigli, will join the Northeastern University and IDEALS development team to outline the demolition plan and respond to questions. Two-way communication with the neighborhood is a top priority for all involved, so please share any feedback so we can minimize local impacts.
Site plan details are still being worked on and will be shared at a future Forum in advance of submission to the city of Portland.
