Wayne Woodbury, 76, Searsmont Assistant Fire Chief passed away this morning, Sunday, June 14, 2026 at Maine Medical Center, Portland, according to a press release received from Shannon Moss, Public Information Officer, Maine Department of Public Safety, Augusta early this afternoon.
Assistant Fire Chief Woodbury was among the many firefighters and emergency responders who responded to the May 15, 2026 fire at Robbins Lumber in Searsmont.
He was one of 12 injured in the fire last month; three remain at Maine Medical Center and three victims of the fire are patients in a Massachusetts General Hospital.
The Office of State Fire Marshal extends its sincere condolences to his famly, friends and the members of the Searsmont Fire Department during this difficult time. The investigation into the Robbins Lumber fire remains ongoing.
