In 2018, when asked about overturning Roe v. Wade, then-Governor LePage said:  “let’s do it.”  It appears he is geting his wish.  And in a tweet today, LePage confirmed that he is anti-choice and suggested that if lawmakers sent him a bill restricting or elminiating access to safe and legal abortions, he would support it according to a press release issued by the Maine Democratic Party this morning.

As the nation is still stunned by the unprecedented leak from the Supreme Court last night that it has voted in a draft opinion to overturn Roe v. Wade, the Maine Democratic Party, has issued the following statement by Chair Drew Gattine:

“Reports saying the Supreme Court is planning to overturn Roe v. Wade, make one thing clear:.  The future of abortion rights in Maine is on the ballot this November.  We are fortunate to currently have a Governor in Janet Mills who is a passionate defender of abortion rights and a Democratically controlled legislation.that will steadfastly protect those rights.  However, with Roe in jeopardy – in part because of Susan Collins’ votes for Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court and other virulently anti-choice justices,  Governor Mills and her Democratic colleagues in the legislature may be the only thing keeping abortion safe and legal in our state.  LePage and other anti-abortion Republicans on the ballot this November present the greatest threat to abortion rights in recent Maine history.  We must re-elect Governor Mills and our Democratic majorities this November in order to protect the rights, safety and future of not just Maine women, but all Maine people.”

Munjoyhillnews.com comments:  It’s really hard to believe, but it is true; That Susan Collins could be so naive ( or something else) as to believe that Brett Kavanaugh, who she supported for  Justice on the Supreme Court, would not be one of the Justices to overturn Roe v. Wade.  Collins also received embarrassing national publicity when she claimed that Donald Trump has learned a lesson from his Impeachment by Democrats.  He will never again behave like that, Collins stated.
