For the first time ever Congress Street (between Brown and State Streets) will be closed to vehicular traffic from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m this evening. This opens up Congress Street for pedestrians to walk freely and enjoy the art and splendor of the evening and create a safer environment for all.
The new Circus Conservatory of America (to be located at Thompson’s Point) is performing a once-in-a-lifetime show,” Circus in the Streets” that will take place at the intersection of Congress and Park Streets. Directed by EepyBird’s Fritz Grobe, the show features students and professional artists from Circus Atlantic, Gym Dandies, Celebration Barn Theater and the internationally acclaimed The Red Trouser Show! There will be two showings, each starting at 6:15 and 7:15 pm.
The First Friday Art Walk – Holiday Edition and the Circus in the Streets performance is a true citywide effort, bringing together the City of Portland, Metro Bus and local sponsors Coffee By Design, VIA, Clark Insurance, Bayside Bowl, OTTO Pizza and the State Theater. Both OTTO Pizza and Coffee by Design will be selling food and drink at the event.
The Circus in the Streets event is subject to cancellation due to severe weather.
The event is hosted by Creative Portland and Portland’s Downtown District.
