Even Lauki, (L) with Ethan Nurick, Voted LateThis Afternoon at East End Community School.

Harrison Criswell Voted This Afternoon at EECS.  He Said he Doesn’t like the Direction the Country is Taking.

The turnout today for the primary day election has been “steady,” said Aurella Scott, Warden, around 5:00 pm today.  More specifically, between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm., 1,150 people showed up to pick their preference for the November mid-terms at East End Community School, on North Street.  Just after 5:00 pm, the line to vote grew dramatically longer as people leaving work stopped in to perform their patriotric duty.  The site closes at 8:00 pm this evening.

“It’s important to exercise our right to vote.  Not everyone has the opportunty to do that in the world,” said Nina Rossiter.  “I’m voting for Graham Platner.”  Even Lauki, who has lived on Munjoy Hill for three years said he was voting because:  “I like to have my voice heard.”  Ethan Nurick, who has lived on Munjoy Hill for two years said he voted for Troy Jackson for Governor.  A graduate of Vassar College where his major  was environmental studies, he is currently working as a stone mason.  “I like to work outside,” he said.

“I’m not traditionally a big voter,” said Harrison Criswell, who hails from Colorado. “But recently it’s been more important to vote.  I don’t like the direction of the country and as I get older, it’s become more important to vote.  “I don’t support Trump,” he added.

Long time HIll resident and often activist Paula Agopian said:  “I’m voting because it is my patriotic duty to do so.”  She voted for Hannah Pingree for Governor.  “Our country is in  a sad state.  I would like to see Trump removed from office.”

“Senator Colllins has been saying that Graham Platner has a lot of questions to answer.  He has been answering them, Senator.  He’s held over 80 town halls across Maine – open to all questions.  Where have you been Senator  Collins? You haven’t held a town hall since the Clinton admiistration,” says this blogger.  “You’ve barricaded yourself behind the protective pages of the “Republican Press Herald” whose reporters never ask you a challenging question – because you have no creditable answers.”
