The Main Library of the Portland Public Library opened for limited service on Wednesday, March 31. Patrons are welcome for limited – 30 minute visits to mini-browse new books, pick-up requested items and use computers, printing, or faxing – all for safety reasons.
In this initial phase, a maximum of 12 patrons can be inside at one time.
Everyone entering the library will be required to wear a mask (PPL will provide them if needed), keep six-feet distance from others and use hand sanitizing stations. There will be a self-checkout station for books as well as library staff available to assist with check outs and questions.
The Library closed its doors last March, with remote services ramped up very quickly and door-side services starting last June. TO-GO services only will continue at the Peaks Island, Burbank and Riverton Branches.
The Maine Library will be open, aa:11:00 am – 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday, starting Wednesday, March 31. For questions, please call 207 – 871-1700.
