A 45 year old Portland man suffered life threatening injuries as the result of a gunshot wound received during an altercation that occurred on Oxford Street near Elm Street just after 10:30 pm n Tuesday June 26, 2018. A Portland police officer was in the area of Oxford Street Shelter when he saw the altercation and heard the sound of gunfire. He ran to the area and rendered aid to the victim who had been shot.
The victim was treated on the scene before being transported to Maine Medical Center.
UPDATE: This blogger met two people who knew the above victim, “Jack.” They said all three of them lived at the Oxford Street Shelter. They went up to Maine Medical Center this afternoon and were told they could not see him – because only family can. But they did say that he has had a kidney and spleen removed today. Jack’s lungs are collapsing and he is on life support. “He was a good guy. He was a Muslim. He worked every single day, although the two did not know where he worked. “Please pray for him,” they said.
