Former Assistant Deputy of Portland Police Department is F. Heath Gorham is now Serving as Interim Chief of Police – Until a Replacement for  Chief Frank T. Clark,  is Hired.  Clark is Leaving Next Month 1 to take a Position With WEX. 

On Saturday, October 9, 2021, at about 3:30 pm., Portland Police Officers responded to a report of a sexual assault that had just occurred at Deering Oaks Park.  The victim, a 47 year old Portland woman, reported that while in a portable toilet in Deering Oaks Park., she had been punched in the face several times, then sexually assaulted by the suspect:  John Aboda, 32, a transient of Portland.  After an investigation, Aboda was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and gross sexual assault.  The victim was taken for treatment to Maine Medical Center.
