Call the City of Portland Clerks Office at 874-8677 or 874-8610, During Office Hours, to Receive a Ballot for the November Election.

Starting on Thursday, October 1, the rate for parking at parking meters will go up to $2.00 per hour in accordance with the Portland City Council’s adoption of the FY 21 budget.

Also effective on October 1, the street maintenance signs on streets will be back in effect.  These restrictions are in effect from October 1 to May 31, except for area 3 (Old Port) where they are enforced year round.  These signs are used not only for street sweeping operations, but for other street maintenance needs like tree removal/pruning, snow plow operations and more.  The city street sweeping program not only makes our streets look nicer, but collecting the debris protects our waterways and harbor according to information received from the city today.

mhn.com comment:  One current city employee recent told this blogger that because of budget cuts, residents should expecter poorer than normal snow plowing services and snow removal from sidewalks this season.  Let’s hope for a moderate winter!
