The Historic Portland Observatory Opened on, Saturday, May 27th for The Season.  A Celebration of Flag Day is Set for Wednesday, June 14, 2023, Starting at Noon.

In honor of Flag Day, Wednesday, June 14, 2023, the Portland Observatory, 138 Congress Street on Munjoy Hill is offering a day of special events to commerate the occasion.

12:00 pm – Raising of the flags; 12:00 pm – 8:00 pm – free, self-guided tours of the Observatory, with docents stationed on each floor to share history and answer questions; 3:00 pm Book signing by Munjoy Hill resident Paul Ledman for his most recent book:  “Portland Maine Connections Across Time” 6:00 pm 7:00 pm. Live music by the FLUKES (weather permitting); 7:30 pm – Last Admission to the Observatory.

Flag Day honors the adoption of the Stars and Stripes as our national flag by the Second Continental Congress on June 14, 1777.
