Portland Police were dispatched to 70 Forest Avenue (YMCA) at 12:53 am on Friday, January 12, 2024 for a report of an assult. Sixty year old David Hannauer was found unconscious and suffering from serious injuries. He was transpsorted to Maine Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries Saturday afternoon.
An autopsy was conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner on Sunday morning and his death was ruled a homicide.
Forty nine year old Robert Lancaster, of Portland, had been arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault and was being held at the Cumberland County Jail since Friday morning. Detectives have since arrested him for the murder of David Hannauer. He is being held wihout bail.
