The Portland Food Co-op is now accepting applications for Assistant/Front End Manager position. The position is a full-time, salaried position with benefits.  Applications must be received by Friday, August 1st.   The start date for the position is Monday, August 18th.  The Front End Manager will be accountable to the General Manager and will support him, Kevin Gadsby, in hiring other key leadership posts. The  Co-op also  announced yesterday that it has hired Mary Alice Scott, to be a part-time Education & Outreach Coordinator.  Scott was selected from among 75 applicants.  Scott will educate the greater Portland community about the importance of co-ops and the growth of local food systems.

Scott has been on contract with the Co-op for the past seven months as the Campaign Organizer.  She led the successful campaign to increase member-ownership by 1,000 people before the store opens.  Scott is now the Co-op volunteer coordinator.  The Co-op will need many volunteers leading up to the opening in the fall according to a press release issued by Kevin Gadsby.   Please contact Mary Alice if you would like to volunteer by email at: ownership@portlandfood.coop.
