Approximately 1,000 runners are registered for the 3rd annual Portland 10 Miler road race that kicks off on Sunday, April 25th at Edward Payson Park at 8:00 am. The route which includes the Eastern Promenade ends back at Payson Park. The event is produced by Gray Matter Marketing and a portion of every registration will be donated to Spurwink.
The 2022 race will follow the same course as in years past. It follows Baxter Boulevard, the Back Cove Trail and the Eastern Promenade to the east and south. At mile five, runners will turn back to the north and west encountering the courses only sigificant elevation as they head up and down Munjoy HIll on the Eastern Promenade. The route then rejoins the Back Cove Trail before heading back into Edward Payson Park for the finish.
Local traffic will be minimaly effected and Portland police officers will be on site to assist with directing traffic. The Eastern Promenade will have one-way traffic fro approximately 10:00 am until the races’ conclusion at approximately noon.
RisingTide Brewing Company also returns as a sponsor for the 2022 race. Bib pick-up on Saturday, April 23 will be held at Rising Tides’ taproom from noon until 3:00 pm., with on-site registration available for walk-ups.
The race was first run in April of 2018 and again in April of 2019. It was put on pause in 2020 because of the pandemic and was resumed in September of 2021. Now it is back again, hopefully with no more pandemic pauses!
