PLUM, a high-end women’s consignment store at 316A Congress Street, Munjoy Hill. is closing at the end of December according to its owner Kelly Williams. The store would have been five (5) years old in April of 2017.
Owner, Williams, will be undergoing foot surgery in early January 2017. She expects to be in recovery for four (4) months. That would make it impossible for Williams to manage the store and it simply is not feasible to hire someone to manage PLUM in her absence. That is the reason for the surprise closing. “I may pop up somewhere else in area next spring Who knows?” asked Williams this afternoon.
Meanwhile PLUM was crowded today as shoppers were taking advantage of the closing sales- from 30% – 70% off. The newer items are at the lower end of the discount scale and older items are 70% off – but whatever the price all items are name brand items.
Cheri Lozoraitis, was shopping at PLUM for her family. She found several sweaters for her sixteen (16) year old daughter.
It is not known at this time if the space has been leased to anyone else.
PLUM is open seven days a week until the end of December 2016. It’s open everyday from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm and on Sunday from noon – 5:00 pm.
