Following news from the Biden Administration that the US has successfully carried out a counterterrisim mission killing Al Qaeda leader Ayman Al-Zawahin, Congresswoman Chellie Pingree (D-Maine), released this statement:

“More than two decades have passed since the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 changed our country forever.  In 2011, President Obama delivered a sense of justice with the death of Osama bin Laden.  Now, the man who stood alongside bin Laden to orchestrate the deadliest terrorist attack our nation has ever seen has met the same fate.  I commend President Biden and our highly trained intelligence and security forces for successfully bringing justice and closure for the victims of 9/11, their families and the countless US active and former service members whose lives were forever changed and many tragically lost to the ensuing war on terror.”
