You are invited to attend a hearng on the killing of Johan Sebastian Duran Guerrero by ICE agents on Monday, August 17. 2026 according to a press release issued by Congresswman Chellie Pingree (D-ME) this morning.  The hearing is to be held at Biddeford High School’s Little Theater, 18 Maplewood Avenue, in Biddeford at 11:00 am.

Rep. Bernie G. Thompson (D-MISS), Ranking Member of the Commitee on Homeland Security, Democratic Whip Katherine Clark (D-MA) and other Democratic Members of Congress will host a Democratic shadow hearing at Biddeford High School  on ICE’s use of force and abuse of power after the tragic killing of Johan Sebastian Duran Guerrero by ICE on July 13, 2026.  The hearing, called “Seeking Justice in Biddeford:  Oversight of ICE’s Use of Force in the Death of Johan Sebastian Duran Guerrero,” members of congress will hear from representatives for the Duran Guerrero famiy, local officials, community advocates and others who can speak to the state of the investigation and the impact ICE’s operations have had on Maine members. Addtional  Democratic party officials may be on the panel as well.  Witnesses wlll hold a press conference immediately following the hearing.

Witnesses at the hearing include: Liam LaFountain, Mayor of Biddeford; Ben Gideon, legal represenatdion for the Duran Guerrero family; Sue Roche, Executive Director of Immigrant Legal Advocacy Project (ILAP:); Mufato Chitam, Executive Director of the Maine Immigration Rights Coalition (MIRC).
