The Oysters are Coming!  In other words, The Shop, at 123 Washington Avenue is in the final stages of preparation for its grand opening by Saturday, August 27th according to someone familiar with the situation.  And it won’t be soon enough for this oyster lover!  Prices are rumored to be very affordable as well.

Inspections have been passed.  There are even some oysters waiting in the walk in refrigerator on site.  A walkway beside the building needs to be paved before The Shop can open.  Kit Paschall, owner of the now defunct nearby Roustabout restaurant is the manager of The Shop.

Meanwhile, it appears that Rambler’s Way, a men and womens’ clothing store has finally landed a suitable spot in the Old Port.   Clothing made from Merino wool will be sold at the corner of Middle and Market Streets.  The growing chain with ambitious plans is owned by Tom Chappell, former owner of Tom’s of Maine.  He sold his company to Colgate in 2006 and made a bundle from the sale.

When it opens, this will be the fourth store in the new chain: Kennebunk, Hanover, NH, Portsmouth.  The store had planned to open months ago, but a suitable location could not be found until recently.
