Maine Voters Voted Overwhelmingly No on 1 to Save Absentee Voting

Secretary of State Shenna Bellows today communicated the official tabulation of the votes cast for the November 4, 2025 election to Governor Janet T. Mlls.

Mainers cast 492,008 total ballots in the Referendum Election.  This is approximately 47.4% of registered voters in Maine.  (As of November 18, 2025, there were approimately 1,037.786 registered voters in Maine.  Municpalities are required to report same day voter registrants within 45 days after the election.)  Complete Referendum Electin results are posted on the Secretary of State’s website.

Question 1: Citizen Initiative – YES – 175,751; NO – 315,008; BLANK – 2,496.

Question 2:  Citizen Initiative – YES, 307,911; NO – 181,601; BLANK – 2,496.
