In response to input received over the past few years, off street parking in Districts 1 and 2 will be changing in the coming days. The changes will reduce daytime and nighttime off street parking restrictions by 50% according to a press release issued today by Jessica Grondin, Portland’s Director of Communications. These changes will allow reductions in the number of times that residents have to move their cars. The new restrictions will only restrict parking on one side of each street two times a month rather than the current schedule.
There will be a “grace” period regarding enforcement, but parkers are expected to adhere to the changes as of Friday, May 1, 2015.,
The public services department has begun installing new signs that reflect these changes. Residents on the East End should be on the lookout for these new signs that are expected to be installed by May 1, 2015. The new restrictions strike a balance between service delivery needs for street maintenance and resident convenience.
Please watch for the new signs and alert others of the changes.
