Mainers Want Fresh New Faces to Repesent them in Washington, DC Such as Oyster Farmer and US Marine Vet Graham Platner, 41,
YOU are invited to attend a “No War With Iran Protest” today, Sunday, March 1, 2026 at 20 Ivers Street, in Brewer, Maine. The protest starts at 5:00 pm. It is hosted by Graham Platner, candidate for US Senate in Maine.
Yesterday Graham issued a statement on the war initiated by and unjustfied by President Trump. Part of that statement is reproduced below:
“Once again, in the space of less than two months, we awake to find that Donald Trump has illegally and unconstitutionally used mililtary force against another country. Today he has started major combat operations against the nation of Iran.
He is doing this because he is flailing politically. He ran on ending foreign intervention like this. But because he sees his political future at risk, he’s willing to send young American men and women into harm’s way and he’s willing to bring an immense amount of violence upon the civilian population of Iran.”
It has been reported that three US service members have died in this war and five others have been seriously wounded. According to one poll, only one in four Americans support the war in Iran by President Trump. The president said today that most likely there will be other casualities from this war on Iran. He was failed to say specifically what the goal or purpose of the war is says this blogger.
Born in Blue Hill and raised in Ellsworth and Sulllivan, Graham is a lifelong Mainer. After High School, Graham enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served three deployments to Iraq. He returned to America and used the GI Bill to atatend George Washington University. But when he saw some of the people he served with get deployed to Afghanistan, he realized his time in uniform was not over. He enrolled in the Army National Guard and soon deployed to Afghanistan. Eventually Graham was drawn back home to Maine by his desire to serve his community of Sullivan. He started working on an Oyster Farm on Frenchman Bay. He eventually took over the farm and has built it into a successful and well-known small business in the community. He also serves as Sullivan Harbormaster and Sullivan Planning Board Chair. He lives in Sullivan with his wife Amy, just three doors down from the house where he grew up.
