Ron Hargrove, owner of the DA Block Records Inc. told a group of reporters this afternoon that the neighborhood on Market Street in which his business is located, is a safe place and that no one should feel afraid to be there. Market Street is in the Old Port.
Meanwhile, police officers were removing items from his upstairs studio behind him. He said he just wanted to find out when he can enter again.
Hargrove was referring to a double shooting incident that happened late Monday night while he was not there. Treyjon Arsenault, 19, a standout athlete at Westbrook High School was shot. He died from his wounds Tuesday morning at Maine Medical Center, Portland. Another victim in the shooting has not been identified and is expected to make a full recovery.
Formerly, Hargrove owned a T-shirt shop at the corner of Washington Avenue and Cumberland Avenue on Munjoy Hill. It is currently used by OTTO’s Pizza as a disrbution center. The building has served as a flower shop and ice cream vendor in the past.
Hargrove said the recordings cut in his Market Street studio are on sale at Bull Moose as well as at his web page: datpiff.com
Hargrove said it is very troubling to think that at least one gunman and maybe two are on the loose in the Portland area. He does communicate with the Portland Police but they have told him nothing about the suspects.
According to the June issue of “Dispatch” there is to be a cookout at June 14th from 2:00 – 6:00 pm on the rooftop of the Market Stree location Will it still go on?
