“We have been able to come to an agreement with Mr. Murph and his Union that at once recognizes the seriousness of the situation and also Mr. Murph’s past contributions to Portland Public Schools and therefore we will not be going forward with the recommedtion that he be dismissed,”was the brief message received late this afternoon.  The email was purposely vague because it is a confidential and personnel matter.

Mr.Murphy is an athletic director at King Middle School where he was accused of shooving a student.

The press release also stated that the Portland Board of Education meeting scheduled for 6:00 pm, today, Friday, January 17 has been canceled because of this resolution.
