The city has issued a statement from Figurehead Mayor Ethan Strimling today on Memorial Day:

“Today, I join my fellow Portlanders in honoring those who made the greatest sacrifice for the freedoms we often take for granted.  Unfortunately, each one of our lives has been touched by someone who has called this city home and has served their country more than most.  I urge my neighbors to not only remember our fallen, fathers,  mothers, sons and daughters this Memorial Day, but truly honor them every day by carrying in their hearts  the unwavering dedication to service above self that they so valiantly displayed.”
