Attack on Man at Sumner Park Under Investigation by Police

Sumner Park on North Street Where a 33-Year Old Man Was Attacked as he Sat on a Park Bench.

An assault on a man that happened last night, Wednesday, June 9th at 10:00 pm., at Fort Sumner Park, North Street on Munjoy Hill, is under investigation by Portland Police according to a press release issued by David Singer, of the Portland Police late this afternoon.

The victim a 33-year-old male reported that he had walked to the Park and was sitting on a park bench when he was struck from behind in the head with a blunt object.  The victim took himself to the hospital where he was treated and released.  The victim described the suspect as a male with a dark complexion and was wearing a white -T-shirt.

Portland Police are investigating to see if three recent assault cases are somehow connected to this latest incident.  The cases are as follows:

June 8th – at 250 Brackett Street; May 29th at 150 North Street, and May 5th Gray Street.

Police have increased patrols in these areas where these attacks have occurred and are asking that you report any suspicious activity when it is seen.  If you have any information on this attack or any of the three previous ones mentioned above, please call Portland Police at 207 – 874-8575.
