MaineCF Awards $$ to Nineteen Greater Portland Nonprofits

The Maine Community Foundation’s  (MaineCF) Welch Charitable Fund has awarded $222,443 to nineteen (19) orgaizations that serve Greater Portland it was announced this afternoon by Taylor Mace, Senior Communications and Marketing Sspecialist.

The fund supports organizatios that assist people in need with preference to nonprofits focused on youth, education, health care, substance abuse recovery and/or arts and culture.

Some of these 19 nonprofits include:  Crossroads for Women; Frannie Peabody Center; Good Shepherd Food Bank, Hospice of Southern Maine; Milestone Reovery; Preble Street; and Woodfords Family Service.

The Welch Charitabale Fund was established as a private family foundation in 1983 by Vincent and Barbara Welch and is advised by friends of the Welches.  It has offices in Ellsworth and Portland.
