Saltwater Classroom: “Through an innovative approach to environmental education, Saltwater Clasroom brings together young students over a passion for our oceans and a lifelong commitment to ocean stewardship.”  The Office is located on the Portland Waterfront.

The Maine Community Foundation (MaineCF) Rines Thompson Fund awarded $148,000 to 26 Greater Portland Nonprofits in 2023.  The Rines Thompson Fund supports community-based organizations that contribute to the vibrancy of Greater Portland.  2023 grantees include:

PORTLAND OVATIONS is to receive $5,000; SALTWATER CLASSROOM, received $3,000, to design an online ocean education platform that connects students to their communnities and natural world through hands-on learning experiences; YMCA of Southern Maine, is set to receive $10,000.
