One of Numerous Signs at the NO KINGS DAY Rally in June Calling Out Collins for Doing Nothing to Stand up to Trump Authoriatism.

Senators Susan Collins (R) and Angus King (I) both voted this evening against  extending tax credits for the Affordable Care Act when they voted yes in an effort to  open up the government after a long – the longest in history – shutdown.   It began on September 19.

The vote, 60 – 40,  by the Senate would finance SNAP benefits and pay federal workers who have not been paid since the shutdown started.  But it will leave about 15 million Americans without health care because they simply can’t afford to pay the double or more  increases in premiums that will result by not passing the tax credits.

Eight Democrats voted with the Republiclans to pass this key piece of legislation.  KIng is included as a Democrat in this count.

The Collins vote is not a surprise since she is part and parcel of the Republican party that has long tried to dismantle the Affordable Care Act, sometimes called Obama Care.  That has long been a priority of President Trump and his puppets in the Senate.  It’s not really surprising either that wealthy Senator King would vote yes as well.   A very wealthy Brunswick resident and former business owner that colors his perspective,  he has no sense of what so many are facing in the near future. Remember how s-l-o-w he was to recognize that Israel’s attack was Gaza was genocide? Both Senators need to be replaced in their next election cycle!

Democratic leader Senator Chuck Schumer voted against the measure.
