You are invited to attend the Grand Opening of the brand new Maine Oyster Company tomorrow, Friday, October 12 from 5:00 pm until 10:00 pm. The location is 38 Portland Street, not far from Back Bay Grill, but on the other side of the street.
The breathtakingly beautiful restoration is worth seeing on its own. It was formerly an antique store. Two years ago John and his brother purchased the building and began restoring it into what is now an intimate and warm showplace featuring oysters from a variety of sources on the Maine coast.
It is also intended to be an event space for corporations and private events that can be fully catered. The menu includes oysters, lobster rolls, chowder and soups and ice cream – yes ice cream! Oysters will be sold retail at a later date. Craft beer is on tap, canned wine by Blue Lobster and prosecco is available as well.
John is from-out-of-state, but he was fortunate enough to spend his summers in Maine – a place that like so many of us, he wanted to live in. His family owns a two year old oyster farm in Phippsburg. It currently has 10,000 oysters – too small to be the sole supplier for the Company – currently.
