Alex Pretti, 37, an ICU VA Nurse was Murdered by ICE Goons Over the Weekend.  He Was Shot Ten Times, Three Times in the Back.

Renee Nicole Good, 37, Murdered by ICE Goons on January 7, 2026.  “She was Made of Sunshine,” said Rebecca Good.  “Sometimes it takes a Lot of Sunshine to Show the Corruption in the Trump Regine and that of Secretry Kristi Noem.

One of the Attendees at the Platner Protest Carried This Sign: “Rest in Peace Alex.”

Registered nurses from medical centers in Maine will hold vigils to honor Alex Pretti, an RN who was slain by CBP officers in Minndeapolis as well as remember all who have been killed by federal immigratdion agent and demand the abolition of ICE, announced Maine State Nurses Association National Nurses Organizing Committee.  Nurses are also calling on Congress to stop any further funding to the Department of Homeland Security for ICE and reverse $85 billion in current ICE funding.

The Portland vigil will be held on Friday, January 30th at 6:00 pm on the Western Promenade, Bramhall Street.  The Bangor vigil  will be held at 5:00 pm in the Federal Building, 202 Harlow Street.

RNS have been outraged by the presence of ICE in their communities and the escalating violence that has led tdod the deaths of Pretti and Renee Nicole Good most recently – as well as the 32 people who died in ICE custody in 2025 and the ountless families torn apart by the Trump administration’s cruel policies.  Many detainees died of inadequae medical care and ICE has stopped since October 2025 paing outside medical providers for detainee care, according to news reports.  Like RNs and thousands of concerned Americans, Pretti was protesting ICE’s presence in Minnesota, which saw tens of thousands of people and businesses participate in an ‘ICE OUT” general strike just the day before his murder.

The escalation in intimidation, violence and general lawlessness by ICE comes as the Republican Party and Trump cut nearly a trillion dollars in health care funding for Medicaid and Medicare to help finance the deportation machine.

National Nurses United, the nation’s largest union of registered nurses — the most trusted profession in Ameria – reaffirmed in a recent statement its commitment to hold ICE accountable.  “Union nurses understand the power of taking collective action against injustice – whether it’s a greedy boss cutting corners on patient care or a fascist administration deploying an illegal and inhumane deportatdion machine … ICE has no place in our hospitals and communities and it has no place in our federal government as an institution, period.  Nurses will be on the front lines of lead in this fight to abolish ICE and build with our patients, our communities and all workig people toward our vision for a healthy society.”
