Preparation is well underway for the debut of a craft brew event in Portland hosted by the three year old Maine Brewers’ Guild – the one day event begins tomorrow at noon and runs the rest of the day on the Maine State Pier, Commercial Street, on the Portland waterfront.

“We have great breweries all over the the state and we want to showcase them all,” said Lora Burns, event coordinator for the non-profit.  “Basically this is a fundraiser.”  Dee Dee Germain, communicators director for the Guild, said the first two events were held in Boothbay, but the Guild decided to make it a “floating festival” by moving it around the State of Maine.  Thirty breweries will be at the Maine State Pier tomorrow out of their thirty-five member organizations according to two the helpful and friendly ladies.

Craft beers and food will be highlighted at the event.  Traditional German food that compliments beer will be available with the price of a ticket.   Bratwurst is on the menu among many other dishes prepared in the kitchens of Sebago Brewery for the event.

The event begins at noon with a VIP reception.  People paying $75. for a ticket will be able to sample limited or “rare” editions of beer supplied by all the participating breweries.  Starting at 1 pm, patrons of the event will be able to sample all of the other craft beers supplied by the thirty vendors for $50. as well as a very large selection of food.

An all day silent auction will give patrons an opportunity to win some craft beer related prizes; weekend getaways, etc.  The auction will close at 3:30 pm.

Over 600 people have already bought tickets for the event. Tickets are still available either on-line or at the door tomorrow.
