On Sunday, April 13, 2025, at 12:44 am., State Troopers received a report of a single vehicle crash near 212 Chimney Road in Readfield.

Troopers confirmed Steven Gregoire, 43, of Lewiston, was operating his 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee along Chimney Road when he appeared to drift off the shoulder, causing the Jeep to strike several trees.  The preliminary investigation indicated Gregoire may have fallen asleep and was killed instantly in the crash.
