Joe Lewis, Died of Injuries Sustained during Pedestrian/Car Incident Near India Street.

Joe Lewis, 61, died last week when a SUV struck him at the corner of India Street on the East End of Portland around noon time.  He was transported to Maine Medical Center with life-threatenng injuries. He died either late Friday evening or early Saturday morning from a head injury sustained in the crash.

The name of the driver of the SUV that struck Mr.Lewis has not been released.  It is only known that she is a 69 year old woman from Falmouth.

Lewis founded Port City Legal, a law firm specializing in divorce and family law.  He was a graduate of the University of Maine Law School.

No charges have been filed in this tragic loss to Portland according to a spokesperson for the Portland Police Department.
