Avoiding the real issues that keep many Mainers awake at night, VP JD Vance today said that Maine is the “fraud capital of the country.” This title came during a speech he gave at Compotech a defense technology company in Brewer just after noon today. It was televised on local Maine stations and was his second trip to Maine this year. Previously he appeared in Bangor in May.
As is part of the Trump admnistration’s playbook, Vance did not name any specifics because there are none. This administration is best known for making unsubstantiated claims and then working to find evidence to back up those lies.
Rather, Vance was careful to avoid subjects of real concern to Mainers. He never mentioned the rising cost of food, of fuel, lack of health care, the closing of birthing facilities in hospitals across northern Maine nor the War on Iran. He stayed away from Trump’s recent 50% tarriffs on Canada – that is until a reporter questioned him about it. He carefully avoided the issues that have driven Trump’s poll numbers under water with no reasonable chance of floating to the surface betore the mid-terms in November. And so pathetically, Vance avoided any mention of the July 13, 2026 killing of a Biddeford resident as he was getting ready to go to work. When asked by a reporter about that killing, Vance skirted the subject with “we investigate all crime. We want everyoe to follow the law.”
Following his attack on Maine as the “fraud capitol” of the country, Vance was asked by a reporter how the new Canadian tarriffs would affect Mainers. The tariffs are to be on $20 billion worth of goods, including lumber. The Fraud Czar lied when he said that Trump’s tariffs were put in place to be sure that Mainers received a “fair deal with Canada.” Another lie from Vance came when he stated that “the government exists to put you first. The far left has opposed our efforts to put Maine first.”
Vance, dubbed the Fraud Czar, stated that the rise in Socialism will be the ruin of this country. Democrats are running a corrupt agenda by tearing down this nation. What will be left will be a nation of “ashes,” Vance said.
If the Fraud Czar is looking for a battleground to call the nation’s fraud capitol, he shouldn’t leave DC and start with the most crooked president in the nation’s history. That’s where he should earn his stars and stripes.
